Omwoyo Technologies started with a simple observation: the problems we see every day in Kampala — unreliable power, expensive data, fragmented payments — are the same problems most of the world's next billion users will meet first. Solving them well here is not a local exercise. It is product work with a very demanding test market.

What "built here" changes

Building here keeps us honest about cost. A tool that assumes fibre, a laptop and a card payment is a tool that quietly excludes most of our neighbours. When we design for the constraints in front of us, the result is usually lighter, faster and cheaper to run.

  • Offline-first defaults where connectivity is intermittent.
  • Pricing that makes sense in local currency.
  • Support that speaks the languages our customers actually use.

What it does not change

Craft is not a luxury of rich markets. The same care that goes into a fintech ledger in London belongs in a school portal in Gulu. The difference is not the standard; it is the constraints we get to solve against.

We are small on purpose. A focused team can read every support message, sit with every pilot customer and change its mind quickly. That is our advantage, and we intend to keep it as we grow.
