Summary
Engero Chess keeps everything on your phone. This build stores your wins, draws and losses for each difficulty level, your best win streak and your own settings, and it has nothing to send them to: there is no account, no sign-in, no email address asked for, no leaderboard and no server.
The game needs no connection to play, sends nothing anywhere and shows no advertising. It carries no analytics and no crash-reporting service, so nothing is collected about you while you play.
This page describes the build offered on this website. It was last checked against version 1.0.0 (build 1).
What is stored on your phone
- Your wins, draws and losses against each of the 10 computer levels, and the longest run of wins you have had.
- The level and the side you last chose, the board theme, the volume, and every switch on the Settings screen.
- The name you type in Settings, if you type one. It only ever greets you on your own screen.
- Nothing about you beyond that.
A two-player game on one device writes nothing down. The second player is not named, not counted and not recorded, because a board shared in the room is nobody's rating material.
How it is stored
All of it goes into the small private storage area the operating system sets aside for this game, where other apps cannot read it. A finished game is written down as its result is recorded, and a switch saves itself the moment you move it.
Nothing you type is transmitted anywhere, because there is no connection for it to travel over. Clearing the game's storage, or uninstalling the game, deletes all of the above with it. Choosing CLEAR ALL RECORDS on the Settings screen empties the counts and the streak and leaves your name and your switches alone.
What is not collected
The game does not ask for and does not keep your email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files, location, camera, microphone or an advertising identifier, and it has no way to move any of them.
It has no in-app purchases and no store: nothing in the game is held behind a payment. It cannot take money itself, it keeps no card or wallet details, and it never asks for a PIN. The Support page prints two Mobile Money codes for you to use in your own provider app, and can hand a hosted payment page to your browser; both are transfers you make yourself, and the game sees neither.
Permissions this build asks for
None that reach outside the phone. The installed game asks for no internet permission and none for location, contacts, files, camera or microphone, so the operating system has nothing to grant it. The short vibration on a capture is the ordinary haptic feedback any app may request; the system can refuse it on your behalf and it costs no access to your data.
One deliberate exception, and the game carries it out no further than your clipboard or the apps you already have: the Support page can copy the contact address, the version line, or a sentence about the game; open a draft in your mail app; and hand the payment address to your browser. The game composes nothing that leaves the phone by itself, still asks for no internet permission, and tells you each time that copying is what happened.
The parts the game is built from
The eleven sound effects are short files made for this game, bundled inside it and played on your device. There is no background music and no audio is streamed.
The interface, storage and audio parts the game is assembled from are freely licensed open-source components; they belong to their own authors, are used under their own licence terms, and none of them reports anything home. The engine, the level ladder, the artwork, the sounds and the text of these pages are original to Engero Games, and the piece lettering is the licensed font the About page names.
Players of any age
The game is made to be safe to hand to anyone: no chat, no advertising, nothing to buy and no personal information taken from anybody. The Support page can open your mail app or a payment page in your browser, and only when you tap it. Whoever plays is holding this phone or sitting beside whoever is.
Questions about privacy
Questions, a bug report, or a request about anything on this page: engerogames@omwoyo.top.
There is no account to close and no copy of your data on a server to ask for, because none was ever made. Deleting the game, or its storage, is the only erasure there is and it is yours to do at any time.
